UT54LVDS217 Serializer – Radiation Hardened Integrated Circuit
Here in the heart of New York City we are experiencing a tremendous heat wave. We’ve been finding it much too hot and uncomfortable even to take a short subway ride to the beach. In fact, this week a news reporter reported that at one subway stop it was 120 degrees! So, our minds are naturally drawn to cooler, albeit colder environments. We can think of none other than the cold environment of space, hence our product feature for August.
We offer the model UT54LVDS217 Serializer, a rad-hardened IC that converts 21 bits of CMOS/TTL data into three low voltage differential signaling data streams. A phase-locked transmit clock is transmitted in parallel with the data streams over a fourth low voltage differential signaling link. Every cycle of the 21 bits of input data are sampled and transmitted.
At a transmit clock frequency of 75MHz, 21 bits of TTL data are transmitted at a rate of 525 Mbps per LVDS data channel. Using a 75MHz clock, the data throughput is 1.575 Gbit/s (197 Mbytes/sec). This specialty serializer allows the use of wide, high speed TTL interfaces while reducing overall EMI and cable size. All of the pins have cold spare buffers. These buffers will be high impedance when VDD is tied to VSS. This IC offers advanced protection from the effects of ionizing radiation.
